AirPods have become one of the most traded items in the secondary market. Yet for a long time, there was no reliable way to verify them. Resellers, retailers, and enterprise refurb operations all faced the same question: how do you confirm that a used pair of AirPods is authentic, functional, and ready for resale?

Manual visual inspection tells you almost nothing. Basic Bluetooth pairing doesn't confirm audio quality, microphone performance, or whether a device remains locked to a previous owner's Apple ID. The result: uncertainty in the grading process, and disputes after the sale.

Scan and pair

Open the case, hold the pairing button until the LED flashes white. Blackbelt360 discovers the device via Bluetooth and initiates pairing.

Device data capture

Serial numbers, model, firmware, battery levels, and Activation Lock status are automatically retrieved and recorded.

Audio and mic testing

The guided hearing check tests each earbud individually. The mic test captures a measured dB reading for an objective, recorded pass/fail result.

As part of a professional bench setup, a compatible AirPods jig is recommended to hold the earbuds securely during the audio test.
